It is to have other font options when people want to post a message. I think Antes' link answered my question.

This being said, I realize that I would also need to use that font elsewhere, like in a board description. How would I do this?

Where would I need to save the font itself (In which folder), and how do I fetch it?

just a warning... using a non-standard font is generally considered poor form these days...   Sites should, except in rare cases, use standard fonts so that all devices can display content correctly.
