I've tried using the default php method and the smtp method to send emails on my site, but neither work. I haven't been slow to get validation emails to work on my site. Can anyone please help?

SMF version is 2.0.11

I'm having similar issue

for some reason email have stopped working

Forum set for new members
Admin approval & send email notice saying a email will be sent after applying for membership
But newly registered members aren't getting the email

Also email notifications aren't arriving that are PMs the PM is there but no accompanying email
it was working but then stopped so I assume either clicked something I should not have or a add-on has amended the settings

Also using Bad company 3 theme

Hi all,

I dig up this topic, because, I'm facing this same issue :

- If I choose in " Admin / registration / Settings / Immediate Registration " : I receive as Administrator the email telling " X has just signed up as a new member of your forum " : so it works fine in this case

- If I choose " Admin / registration / Settings / Email Activation " : nor the new member, neither me as Administrator, receives any email ... that's my issue

My system is :
- SMF 2.0.15
- PHP Version 7.2.20
- Packages installed :
    > Responsive Curve    1.0.0
    > Language Drop Down    1.5.3
    > reCAPTCHA for SMF    2.0.0
    > Google Analytics Code    1.5.1
    > Language on Register    1.0
- Mail / Settings is on : PHP (default)

Any idea to solve this ?

Thank you in advance for your answer

PHP 7.2 isn't compatible with 2.0.15
Need to downgrade to 7.0 or 7.1. Not sure on email problems. I know spam filters like to block them

Thank you for your answer.

I will try your advice soon.
And I'll let you know if I reach to downgrade without broke my website.

We keep in touch  :)

I'm just another forum owner with the same problems. I dont seem to get the notices when someone registers. I have to check for awaiting approval a few times a week. Usually it's because their verification email is hung up in their spam filter.

I try myself to register with "Email Activation" and see what was happening : nothing in Spam folders, just nothing at all everywhere...

I need some time to downgrade to previous PHP version, just because my website is optimized to PHP 7.2, and so I have to be careful...
I'll will try this, or may be wait SMF 2.1 release.

@Delta5

I downgrade to PHP 7.1 :
now it's fine, no more error in SMF logs, and emails are send to members.

Thanks a lot ;)

I don't think you have permissions to mark it as solved.
