I am getting the error "You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!" when trying to install packages. I found a previous thread here and tried the solutions suggested but it didn't work. I tried using FTP, SFTP with root login, and changing the entire directory to 777 permission. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

does the folder temp exist in the packages folder? if not can you create it and see if it works then?
