500 error

getting 500 error on new posts, uploads etc,
i know this error is returned by server but could something be off in script causing it?

ask your host what is causing it. they should be able to tell you, then you can tell us the error and we can see about fixing it.

restored site all was good. added a few plugins back same error
removed plugins error persists'
could package manager be broke messing up permissions?

Please, take a look at this. Maybe the permissions of your directories and files are not supported by your host: How do I chmod? / what is chmod?

Yes, I know.  Have worked several forums that were consuming excessive server resources because they were busy continuously logging errors, usually from bad mod installs.  That's why I asked, and this does appear to be a mod problem.

got it fixed but still get 500 when trying to search admin tasks...

what should i try uninstalling each mod and see if fixed?

A simple code error can cause server to throw a 500.  It's most likely one of your mods.  Anything in your forum error log?

LinksDirBasics.php in your forum root is a mod file.  Don't recognize it, nothing from search.  Can you attach the file?

The file belongs to SMF Links Directory v2.1.5, which may be an earlier version of this mod.  Not seeing that file in the package, but you can ask in the support topic.

i actually installed the paid one, dynamic directory i think.

If you can uninstall the mod without errors, that file should be deleted, and those errors should stop.  Try it, if that's what happens, it's a problem with the mod, not SMF core code.  SMFHacks will have to fix it.

It was installed, must not have uninstalled completely.  You would have to clean it up manually, or do a clean install.  It's not on the mod site here, so can't help you with the code.

actually its to a different plugin than u listed.

reinstalled, still get error so that error log might be 4 something else

Are the 500 errors logged in the error_log you've accessed?
If not, you may have to look at the global error log, which can be found in the "logs" directory of Apache itself.

just got 3 errors running the admin search, no ohers in log all point to who.php

IDK whats going on. Now this returned to Featuresettings in admin.
I can do anything else, cant access feature settings.

The only thing I did was remove a defunct code left over from adk buttons I had uninstalled a long time ago from manage permissions

restored a few day backup of file, working now..
this issue just started when php was upgraded
never had this issue before
