Where/How can I "reset" all the Forum Statistics? I guess only in the database. (?)

actually.... no....   there is no good way to "reset" most of those, without actually deleting all the data.  Most of those values are calculated, not stored.

Ashes on my head!! I'm sure in my forum I would argue exactly in the same way. Sometimes you are just ..... nailed (manchmal ist man(n) wie vernagelt / Wald vor lauter Bäumen / .....)

What happens if I change the "Betreff" now? Egal, ich mach's einfach mal

There is no way to do it.     The recount will not reset them, it will just do the recount.

To original poster, although I can't think of a good reason you would want to reset stats to zero, have you given any thought to customized ADDITIONS to the stats page for various aspects and modules that are not standard out of the box? I have developed several over the years and they can be viewed by anyone and are quite easily transferable to any SMF based site.

You want the long story? Well:
- The "going On-Air" date is planned for Jan 2017
- We did not want to go online with an empty forum!
- I (!) want to become my Moderators comfortable with the SMF (first time moderation access ever) BEFORE we gon on-Line
- New Themes / New posts / Changes of explanations and in consequence: a lot of "edit post" as well as most posts / most read / most online / most .......
- So ..... many many statistics which the "new users" in Jan 2017 should not see. "why should they be aware of "our" building up the forum"???

Klarsoweit .... ? (Germans having Videotapinghobby are complicate ....  :-X )

But, when they come to the forum and see pists, the will be confused if they see "zero posts" in the stats, but 50 posts visible in various boards...  basically what you are asking seems to defy logic.

Dear Kindred,
sorry, but I do not care about THEIR confusion. I just do not want them to see all the posts-statistic made by Admin and Mods "behind the scene".
in the Statistc they see a thread "just between MODs" with 100 Postcounts but
- they don't have access and
- they dont see it in the forum overview

What is more confusing for them?

I have a board that I named Mods/Admin Topics.  Mods and admins are the only ones that have permission to see it.  I don't pay attention to the stats/post count for that.

I also have a board named Hidden that only admin/mods can see and that is where all deleted posts are stored.  You need that.  Someone will delete a post or topic in error and if that post isn't recoverable and restore-able,  you will be unhappy.

As for stats-  Our forum code has been edited to remove the "More stats link".  Not info that members need, in my opinion.
In that same block, we have also removed the View the most recent posts on the forum link.   If that link is on the forum, we found that folks just click that and run through the latest posts without signing in.  Removing that link brought more folks to sign in and use the Show unread posts since last visit

Well, kubMCC, luckily for the rest of us, what you are trying to do actaully won't work on smf.

As I say, what you are asking to does just illogical, which is why the system won't allow it to happen.

If you truly intend to break the system by doing this, you are going to have to find someone to code it for you... and that code will probably break a dozen other things that the system depends on.

On the SMF boards, you have the option of including post counts attributed to posters post count or not.  You can un-check that box to make sure posts aren't attributed to member's post count.  However, I do not know if the posts still go into the overall forum stats on post counts.  Some of the bells and whistles gang here will know.  Or you can un-check that box on that board and do a little test for yourself to find that answer.

That box is circled in red in the board modification screen snip below.

The Count Posts option does not affect totals in forum stats, it just prevents member totals from being incremented on boards where option is disabled.  Simplest thing to do is edit Info Center in BoardIndex.template.php to remove links to forum stats so members can't see it.  They won't miss it if they don't know it's there.

Thanks.  I didn't know where or how to do that.  I have a guy who does all of these edits for me.  I know what I want but not how to do it.

Sir Osis of Liver

This is the simplest way -

BoardIndex.template.php

// Show statistical style information...
if ($settings['show_stats_index'])
{
echo '
<div class="title_barIC">
<h4 class="titlebg">
<span class="ie6_header floatleft">
<!--a href="', $scripturl, '?action=stats"--><img class="icon" src="', $settings['images_url'], '/icons/info.gif" alt="', $txt['forum_stats'], '" /><!--/a-->
', $txt['forum_stats'], '
</span>
</h4>
</div>
<p>
', $context['common_stats']['total_posts'], ' ', $txt['posts_made'], ' ', $txt['in'], ' ', $context['common_stats']['total_topics'], ' ', $txt['topics'], ' ', $txt['by'], ' ', $context['common_stats']['total_members'], ' ', $txt['members'], '. ', !empty($settings['show_latest_member']) ? $txt['latest_member'] . ': <strong> ' . $context['common_stats']['latest_member']['link'] . '</strong>' : '', '<br />
', (!empty($context['latest_post']) ? $txt['latest_post'] . ': <strong>&quot;' . $context['latest_post']['link'] . '&quot;</strong>  ( ' . $context['latest_post']['time'] . ' )<br />' : ''), '
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=recent">', $txt['recent_view'], '</a>', $context['show_stats'] ? '<br />
<!--a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=stats">' . $txt['more_stats'] . '</a-->' : '', '
</p>';
}

Removes the link Forum Stats icon, and removes [More Stats] link completely.  With a bit more coding, links can be available to admins/moderators.

And yes, I know, someone can access stats by using direct link, but if they don't know it's there, they won't bother.

OK, THAT's a clear answer I have to live with.  :-[ Thanks anyways. (Even if we still see some logic in it  8) )

Did You ever design a PCB ? Why is SMF2V1 still in the background optimisation? Will it go online with all the Test-Posts made on the DB? Think about it ....

Nevertheless; a difference between "content" and "statistics" in a/the (forum)database makes sence. Ioho  8)

For me: topic closed (but not solved)

All other post do not touch "the problem" (make forum virgin again; exept CONTENT! = Themes, Threads & Posts)

OK, life could be sooo easy and we could have soo much fun:  8) 8)

I tried the forum "as a Newbie" = standard post-count-depending-user. Wow!!! All the statistics about "Only for Mod/Admin" I did not want to see new Users disapeared/are hidden!

Telling me this directly ...... (or did I miss it  :o :o )

I can live with this very easy!

Topic SOLVED!!
