Append to textarea

Hi everyone,
I am running smf2.0.12 and run a keyboard music forum.
I would like to make life easy for our members and help with their posting. (Some Members Find Copy And Paste Difficult)
Hence I am in the process of making an upload of their music onto the forum and then a selection of the music they have uploaded and put it straight in the post for them..
I have both the upload and the selection done and ready. The part that I am stuck on is getting that selected data that I have into the textarea. I read on one of the threads here that Arantor suggested there are some functions to inject text into the New Topic textarea. However I do no seem to be able to locate these functions, so if anybody could help me with this, i would be very grateful. Or just how to address the data location of the textarea would be great if the functions actually do not exist. This would save me some analysis time
