Looking for help installing SMF 2.0.12

Hi there,

I'll keep this short and sweet. I've tried installing SMF on WAMP/XAMPP and IIS and I'm having a terrible time just trying to get this forum software to work. It's not for lack of trying, I've followed guides and done what I can to the extent of my knowledge.

My mission is to have a local copy available so I can test the software on the side before I invest into a paid host. I've used SMFFORFREE.COM [nofollow] but there is functionality I'm missing and would like to have a local copy on a VM.

If anyone is willing to give me a guided tour of an easy install, I'd be ever so gracious.

This would be done on TeamViewer, through a VM that is isolated.

Please let me know if anyone is willing to help me out.
