Board permissions

I want to set up some boards so that one group of members has permission to post, reply etc. while another group can only see and reply to existing posts (i.e. they cannot create a new post)

I cannot find a clear explanation of the necessary steps, can someone please help?

set up a new permissions profile

with all of the correct permissions per membergroup

then apply that profile to the board in the board settings
