What are you guys using for spam protection these days?

My registrations on my 2.0.13 forum have been closed for a couple of years now. At one point I was getting maybe hundreds of spam bots per day. I've never really been able to sort this out and had sort of given up. The built in capcha - and the security question - doesn't seem too effective.

I see an akismet integration mod by vbgamer on here, but it doesn't seem well supported - am I incorrect, and it's worth installing?

I really need to finally get to the bottom of this, please help. I had a great mod that used the stopforumspam website, but it seemed to stop working a long time ago, for some reason.

Google.

and
httpBL ( http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2155 )

Since having both installed not a single spammer has managed to get past them both.

I gather that Bad Behaviour for SMF mod is also effective.  ( http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2502 )

I use Askimet for removing spam comments. It works well for me. And some more tips to avoid bots is by changing your .htaccess file. If you are using apache server you can access to that file. And one more tip is to block those IP's.

Askimet is one of the worst systems out therre and has caused more issues with valid users and valid additions than it solves. Stay away from it....

Almost certainly a spammer and if not a spammer, said post only really makes sense in context of blog comments.
