Go Directly to Last Post

Maybe I missed it or there is a mod for this, but when I click on "Recent Posts" I get a list of the most recent post.

But is there a way or a setting to click on that post in "Recent Posts" that takes you directly to that most recent post? Anything I can find to click on will either take me to the main category the most recent post is in but not directly to that post. So if there are lest's say 3 pages I have to jump to the end of the pages and then to the end of the post.

I don't have that either so let's make sure we're talking the same thing. Are you clicking on 'View the most recent posts on the forum.' in the info center at the bottom of the page?

If so, when you are shown the list there are two links. The one on the left of the / is for the board the post is in and the one on the right of it is for the post itself.

This is on the default theme (and probably most themes).

Yes -basically that is what I have. The Link on the left takes me to the Category and /  the link on the right takes me to the topic - but only to the first page of the topic -not to the last post of that topic - perhaps there is no feature for that?

It does show the "Most Recent Post" but I am looking for a way to click on the most recent post and go to the last post or most recent post in that whole topic, not just to the first page on that topic.

The little 'last post' icon is to the right of the topic whenever you see a list of topics.  It's not on the board index.  See screenshot. 

Note that the 'last post' icon is NOT on Responsive Curve on the smaller form factors, e.g., on a smartphone.

But I guess I need to expand a little on my question.

I have that feature when I go to a  General Category but no where else --

Example - I click on "Recent Posts"  and I do get the most recent posts listed, so at that point I have 2 options (links) at the top of that most recent post. Example :

General Discussion / Newbie Introduction, so Clicking on the "General Discussion" takes me to That Category "General Discussion" and I have that little symbol there to take me to the last post. If I click on the other half of that -- "Newbie Introduction" it takes me to the First page of that category even if there is 4 pages and you have to find your way to the last post.

So my question - and maybe not possible -- Why can't I, When I click on "Recent Posts", have a way, like that little symbol you pointed out, at the end of the "Recent Post"  to go directly to the most recent post of that Topic, rather than to click and go to the Category and have to click (on that symbol)  again to get to the last post, -- or click on the Re: and end up on page 1 of 4, then have to go to page 4 then scroll down to the last post, when that symbol that you pointed out can do that with one click?

I hope that clears up my question a bit.

That symbol is a default feature, sounds like your theme removed it

Well, I don't know if I ever had it -- Never changed a theme, always has been the default - Added mods and did the smf updates, and change to ssl.

So if I di have it -- anyway to get it back?

i think op is going to action=recent and not clicking on the name of the topic, which should take you to the message you are reading.

Somebody is getting confused here (good chance it's me) but where is this icon supposed to be?

The attached is from my vanilla test board, default theme (there are no other themes or mods installed).

OK,  Steve -- I have what you have -- My question is why don't I have (and maybe it is not possible) that Icon in the "Recent Post" to go directly to that post??

In your Attachment you can Click on "The Pushing of Really Big Boulders For No----" will take you to the "General Category" That post is in – there you will find that Icon to take you to the last post.

In your attachment you can click on" / Re: No Quote test" and that will take you to the 1st page of that topic and if that "Recent Post"  post is on page 6 you have to navigate to page 6.

My point: why when I leave NY  do I have to fly to Seattle to then go to LA.
Why can't I go from NY directly to LA non stop??

There is something wrong with your setup then because clicking on 'Re: No Quote test' takes me to the latest post, not the first page.

As Arantor asked, what mods do you have installed? (list please, not an image)

Ok, just checked and it is only happening in my Admin account. I created  test account and it seems to work fine as a regular member?
