Customizing recent posts page?

I would like to modify/improve the action=recent page with two dropdowns:
- One for boards (all boards, board 1, board 2,...)
- One for post type (new topics, new replies, new topics and new replies)

I would also like every post to say in front of the title "new topic" or "new reply"

I photoshopped something quick to hopefully explain a bit better what I'm trying to say



How would I accomplish something like this?
