Hello,

I know that this subject was discussed before, but my search results couldn't help me.

I am having trouble uploading smiley icons. When I try to do it, I get "Smiley directory unwritable" error, even though I set the permissions for whole Smileys directory (and all subdirectories) to 755 or 777. I had no luck so far.

I searched forums but all the advice I could find was like "change file permissions", which I had already done.

Another reason might be "Smiley directory" options. I am sure that the upper one is correct, but I am not sure about the one below (which includes "public_html" entry as well).

I would be glad if you can assist me.

Regards.

You can see the absolute path in Settings.php, 'Directories/Files'.  Some servers block 777 for security reasons, 755 should work.  Did you check permissions on both /Smileys directory and target subdirectory?

Yes, the old and obsolete Smiley path entry was the problem. I figured the correct path out by looking at Settings.php. The rest of it was solved easily.

Thank you for your assistance. I am grateful.

Regards.
