Linux: automatic monitoring for table crashes ?

I was wondering how best to do this in Linux, I came up with this:

curl of the website and grep for crash and table.

send email to my phone.

any better suggestions ?

Check the mysql error log with a cron script.

Switch to InnoDB tables, problem goes away... ;)
