HELP! Error Message

I have uploaded everything onto my site and can open the "install.php"

When I fill in the Basic Settings and MySQL settings (correctly I might add) and click proceed, I get this message:

"Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)"

What am I doing wrong??

It cannot connect to the mysql server. Check that the mysql server you are using is alive and well and then check that the mysql information you are supplying for the install is correct.

Thanks. I've contacted my web host and they're getting back to me. now i just have to wait. . .
