A total newbie question, please forgive my ignorance!

Can information from anywhere on the net be displayed in an SMF portal mod or will the portal only display information from within the forum?

Your portal will primarily have info displayed from within your forum, but with php blocks you could pretty much have content posted from facebook, twitter, other sites, etc. if you want.

Thank you for your reply. I'm sure there will be a multitude of things I may eventually want to display within a portal, I can't get the Donate Paypal to work, however I have one on a public site that sits one directory above the forum so I thought I would use a portal to display that in the forum from the public site.  Would you recommend ezPortal for this purpose?

any of the portal mods will do what you want. try them out and figure out which one you like best.
