Help with Permissions
« on: December 05, 2017, 02:02:41 AM »
I have 7 post-count based membergroups.
Is there some way to promote some members from group 'a' to group 'b' without them having the requisite number of posts.

you can manually edit their post count otherwise you cannot assign a user to a post count group.

manually edit their post count

Could have done that but I'd rather not. The way I have worked around the issue was to create a new primary group with very limited permissions inherited from the group that I want to promote them to. Then I have added them to this membergroup. The only precaution that I now need to take is that when they have crossed over from one post-count group to the other, I have to remove them from this primary group, or else their privileges will be lower than needed.

There is no easy promotion system for SMF :(
To assume is to hope that those who came before had the presence of mind and capacity to implement the dreams of those who would come after.

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. It seems you have chosen which, and now I must do the same.
