funny url issue
« on: January 23, 2018, 03:23:31 PM »
Hi All.

I have just migrated to another host everything is fine apart from one thing.

I have have simpleportal Version: 2.3.7 ( in front page mode ) and i have a button named ( forum )

so when I click the forum link while on the portal front page it goes to ( https://ftac.org.uk/index.php?action=forum  ) and the format of the page is all messed up.

but if i click in the recent posts box on the portal page then click the link back to forum i get (   https://www.ftac.org.uk/index.php?action=forum#c5   ) and the page is fine.

Any ideas folks.

the first link does not load with CSS for me, the second does.

strange as on most hosts if you use www or not it should show the same thing.

I see the problem in FF56, both links load normally in IE11.

So, fix your url settings

the URLs are not the issue, it is the link the user is using from the portal front page. it has to be changed.

That link is usually determined from the scripturl or boardurl setting

On the other hand...   fixing it in htaccess to force www is probably the best answer

not if the user added the link somewhere manually then it is not determined from anywhere in SMF.

It was a web host server migration.

I have been looking around and found ( Theme directory (templates):    (warning, this path is not correct!) )

Fixing this issue might help i hope ... cant do any harm anyway
