Searching on Member List

By default there are two radio buttons checked: 'Search by name' and 'Search by email address'

If you enter both search parameters e.g. Bill Smith [email protected] - the result is "Sorry, no matches were found" even though the information is in the member list database.

This is consistent across all search parameters.  However if you have two radio buttons checked and you enter only one search parameter a correct result is returned for that parameter.  Once again this is consistent across all search parameters.

I have tested this with more than two radio buttons checked and the results are the same.  As long as only one parameter is entered into the search field a correct result will be returned for that 'one' parameter regardless of how many radio buttons are checked.

This may not be a bug?  Perhaps the search feature on the member list is just a very simple search?  In which case it would be great if it's upgraded to also be able to search for parameter * parameter rather than just one parameter.

Not really a bug, that's how it works.  You're not actually submitting multiple parameters, just a single search string, so if you combine name and email address there's no match.  By checking which fields to search, it allows you to submit a partial username or email address (i.e., all members with gmail.com addresses).
Ashes and diamonds, foe and friend,
we were all equal in the end.

OK, thanks for clearing that up.  Do you know if it's being upgraded to a more complex search in 2.1?
