2.0.15 Error 500 on first page of large topics
« on: February 03, 2018, 06:32:33 AM »
Hi,

On my forum (running SMF 2.0.15) I've got some large topics (+86 pages)
However, if you open the first page of the topic, it generates HTTP error 500.
All other pages of the topic work fine.

On our old forum (smf 2.0.5 it works fine) this summer we made a clean install with 2.0.14 and migrated the database content.
All other topics work fine, only 2 or 3 very large topics have this problem.

Any thoughts?

In my serverlogs i found:
Quote

the referer url is the previous page i visited. This is the topic with the error: https://www.hulpverleningsforum.nl/index.php/topic,83559.0.html [nofollow]

Ok I found something,
turns out it's one of our modifications which is causing the error in case of very long posts.
the PHP functions preg_match or preg_replace seem to cause the problem

Removing some very long posts from the DB solved the error, turning off the modification and putting the post back also solved the error
