Hi there,

I don't think this is a bug. Just me. But it's good to let you know about it.
Somehow, I have posted a topic in my forum.

When posting, the forum told me something like "it has gone wrong, try again". So I did it again and it told me "your post is already there".
Now, the section count_number does not count that topic: it is written: "herein there are 2 topic".
When I enter the section, I find instead 3 topics.
When I try to open the topic under examination, I get the message: "Wrong value type sent to the database. Integer expected. (id_msg)"

Now my question is: as I cannot open the topic how can I delete it?

lucadanieli

Wow, three topics in a row. I think something has broken here

DO NOT pm me for support!

Could you give us an url to see this?

How you can help SMF

lucadanieli

Dear Aleksi, sorry for my late reply.

Actually this is the post: http://www.direlavoro.it/index.php?topic=24.0 [nofollow]
As a user, it says: "Wrong value type sent to the database. Integer expected. (id_msg)"
While, as a guest you will see it just blank.

Thanks for your support!

Have you tried opening up the database in phpMyAdmin and see what SMF has written in it for this particular topic (or any of the other copies of the same topic)?

What was the latest change that you did to your forum prior to this happening?

Can you list all the mods that you have installed btw?

lucadanieli

Oh, thank you doug. I feel refreshed if this looks like mod-related.

Does any of these make sense?
Actually, I have installed them a few days before the error - can't confirm the error has happened just after installing them, but it's likely

Can you disable all the the mods you installed and see if the posts show up ok? Then enable one mod at a time and see if it breaks the topic/posts. It could be the pretty url mod or the related topic one.

Can you disable/uninstall the Pretty URLs and Related Topics first, one at a time, and see if it will fix the error?

lucadanieli

You are amazing Doug..

After uninstalling Pretty URLs I had the same behaviour.
But after uninstalling Related Topics, everything went back to work normally.
Seems the second was the problem, even though I can't assure it wasn't both.

Thanks for your support!

No problem mate. Glad to have been of help :)

Ah, yep. How can I delete now the corrupted topics?
Can't open them, so can't delete them - virtually they don't exist, so probably not even anything to remove

If you can not open them, one way would be to delete them from the database, but I would strongly suggest against doing it that way.

The best way to delete them properly would be through a custom mod that deletes topics based on their ids. i.e. you can enter the id(s) of the topic(s) that you want to delete and it will delete them from the forum.

Illori

you dont need to do it from the database, open a topic that you can delete, copy and paste the remove topic link into the address bar, put in the topic id into the correct location in the URL and press enter and it will delete the topic for you.
