Comments on Posts/Comments on Comments

I'm wondering if some similar plugin exist? For years there is confusion on forums where it goes post by post, so you just can't follow who is answering and on what, so there are going quotes on quotes, discussions go on 3-4 pages and for many things we have no idea what's going on so reading everything over again. So I think adding as an option something like comments on posts and comments on comments may make things easier. Is there some plugin like that?

Threaded view is a conversation/participation killer, imo

Agree. The whole point of answering a thread is to read the whole thing, not just a few posts, quote them and write a comment/answer to the quote.

An exception might be off-topic/general conversation threads or boards.
