Hi there,

Wonder if someone can give me some advice please.

I'm trying a new host - and everything is working fine, except for one thing - image uploading (attached to a post) - these go straight to a white screen, and nothing gets uploaded.  No errors either.     I also have Coppermine Gallery, and its uploading images fine.     Both my old host and this new one are Cpanel-based, and very similar setups, so I'm a bit mystified.   Quite frustrating, as I was ready to "go live" tomorrow.

What else can I check?

Thanks!

I would check your file path settings.
Use the repair settings tool to make sure your paths are for your new host.

Thanks.  I did this after the move, and it fixed the issues I had, and I've since checked it about 10 times and everything's fine!

Existing attachments show up fine, I just can't upload/attach any new ones - instant white screen - its really odd.  And nothing in any error log!

OK so I literally tried a 1KB gif - and it worked.  A PNG worked too.  But a tiny JPG didn't.... what would stop JPGs working in SMF (but they work on Coppermine..) !?

Thanks.

Do you have extensive security checks enabled? If so, try disabling it.

What version of PHP are you running?

File check's check under security features in SMF.
Also check your forum's error log for clues

I didn't have extensive checks turned on... and its PHP 5.6.36.

Thanks.

Do you have thumbnails enabled? If so, try disabling them and see if the problem disappears.

White screen upon image upload is sometimes addressed by this mod:
https://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=4111

Usually, this is for issues for large images, but worth a try.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions.

This morning I've uninstalled 2 mods I have - the auto image rotate and memory limit ones - and then re-installed them - I don't know if this helped, but it allowed me to establish that its the "automatic rotate" checkbox on this mod that is causing the issue.  I will continue on that mod's support topic.
