Where Do I place Adsense Code?

Hey guys. I'm not talking about ads themselves. Those I have the ad/mod plugin for. But the test code that Google sends. They say they want it in HTML head tags, but I don't know which PHP file has that? Should it be in the index.php page? If so, where?
