Today I got the 500 internal server error, so I deleted the cache as previously resolved the issue. My host company then stated a ongoing known fault but have since reported the following error :
Quote
Array([message] => syntax error, unexpected ''a:260:{s:10:"smfVersion";s:5:' (T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE)[file] => /var/sites/s/somersetroeadend.com/public_html/forum/cache/data_37cbc356fe0bc8573ea4cc55026d571c-SMF-modSettings.php[line] => 1)

Any assistance appreciated to get back up & running.

Oh, come on, another cache problem ???. This is getting symptomatic.

It would have been nice if kept a backup of the cache files... oh, well :S.

Will check with provider might be able to get, as they have some form of online restore.

We would need the cache files before the problem got fixed... when the forum wasn't loading.

And the error log.

The error message given outlines what type of error it was, looks like the cache file for modSettings got malformed by invalid bytes in it, which would be weird given the error message.
