I was wondering why on my forum board when I try signing in through the side panel i get,

"An Error Has Occurred!
Your session timed out while posting. Please go back and try again."

I've looked it up and haven't found a clear cut answer...

From what i've seen it has something to do with themes..? If that's the case is there anyway to fix my current theme? I've been using the same theme since the start of the site and would like to keep that way since that is what my user base is used to seeing.. This site is pretty old-school / is home to a boating community primarily located in Texas.

Another issue i was wondering, was when i try running my forum through "Https://" it looks all broken. for example this is my forum board:

https://www.texashotboats.com/forums/index.php

http://www.texashotboats.com/forums/index.php (without secure) (Also our site has a semi not safe for work image on the top right hand corner so be warned)

https://www.whynopadlock.com/results/9e49b4e1-ed21-41a6-8a80-1c9760de7c4d

Again, the failures look like its theme related..? The theme I am using is "Silent wave" and that's what is showing up in the errors.. Again any help would be much appriciated.

any help would be amazing.. Thank you!

Hi there!

This may sound weird, but I'm looking through the " index.template.php " as listed, and im not seeing or finding a </forum> tag..

so i just make a <form> and </form> with that code correct..?

Arantor

Looks like you're using SimplePortal, you need to update to version 2.3.7 to fix this.

Actually, it's the PotaMX portal he appears to be using based on the copyright in his footer.

Yeah.. The full story of the site is the original owner has became ill and gave the forums to my father.

My father is not used to  forums so he was asking me to help him out, and to update it / keep it going.

I updated it from 2.0 to 2.0.15 but with it came a number of issues that I'm trying to fix..

The original guy who helped the owner stopped updating it in like 2009 so I'm trying to bring everything up to date while keeping the original look and feel.

br360

Nice that you are trying to fix it for your father.

Pretty sure Arantor is on the right track with the portal issue causing the error. I'm not too familiar with the PortaMX portal, but this link may help.

There may be a newer version you can upgrade to that may fix the problem- https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=266721.msg3977304#msg3977304

I followed it and it worked!

But im still getting this issue..?

EDIT:

Actually i think i know the issue. Thank you everybody!

If you still have issues, go to inspect element and then click the console link. That will show you all the http requests causing you not to have the padlock. Interestingly enough, most of the errors are due to PortaMX image gifs loading http.

Do you have the image proxy enabled in your admin panel?

PortaMx 1.54 ecl is the current one / latest version yeah..

And on their site it states "Portal 1.54 ECL for SMF 2.0.x"

lurkalot

Looks like it was updated for SMF 2.0.15, so unless they removed it from the archive, https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=266721.msg3965322#msg3965322

Or is that a different thing all together.

I think that is referring to the login error..

lurkalot

Probably.  Looks like you might have find and update the file(s) that are calling that image for those bullets in those two blocks top left of your site then unfortunately.

Arantor

Did the theme paths all get updated?
