Although I have searched for what I want I cant seem to find it.
In the header of THIS forum board there are four links, to Facebook, Twitter, something I dont recognise and Google+.
How do I ad my own facebook and twitter links to my own Forum http://stirchley.co.uk/onlineforum/index.php [nofollow]

Any help appreciated.

Mick

Well, the way ti was done here was to manually code the layers...

Some themes have it built in (see https://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php)

there are also some mods...
https://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3163
or the global headers/footers mod
https://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=351
or a portal mod...

Im sorry but none of that makes any sense for what Im after.
I am after a way of inserting the facebook and twitter images in pic, on my website.

It isn't a feature of SMF itself, it was added as a custom edit and never released as a plugin, kindred was suggesting a few ways it might be able to be done.

Kindred

I understand what you are after.

and I told you the ways the something similar can be accomplished.

To duplicate this site, you would have to manually modify the code in index.template.php

the other thinks I listed will allow you to do something similar, but not exactly the same

Thanks both, I looked at index.template.php but nothing there that I could edit.
i.e. the banner I put on the header and the forum name doesnt show in index.template.php.
so beyond my expertise I think.

Thankyou anyway

Kindred

well, yes...  both the banner and the forum name *ARE* called out in index.template.php --- but, since those things are set in the admin interface, the code calls for them by variable name.

Editing the code in that file is one way to do what you asked. The only way to duplicate what we have here.
The other methods that I listed will allow you various ways of adding it.
The global headers mod would let yuou add the HTML code directly int he block, and display it.
A portal mod would do the same.
some themes have the option for the icons built in (like the one I linked to, at fx-sabers)
