creating SMF Themes + upgrading from 2.0.x ?

just a few questions
1) im looking for someone to point me in the direction of the latest info regarding creating custom theme for SMF
2) is it easy to upgrade frm 2.0 to 2.1 (I ask because i operate a smf forum using 2.0.15 still, and another board im involved with is running SMF 2.0.13)
3) if i was to create a custom theme, should it before 2.1+ ?

What kind of information do you need? The standard process for developing one is to create a copy of the default and then modify templates as you need them, any template file you omit, will make use of those from the Default theme's folder instead. (which is why it's a bad idea to edit the default directly)

We have documentation for upgrading between major versions, Upgrading SMF. This only applies when going between major versions or pre-release versions (betas, RCs) of the same major version. (examples would be 1.0.5 to 1.1.21, or 2.1 RC1 to 2.1 RC2)

You're best upgrading the 2.0.13 forum to 2.0.15 at this point, which you can do in the Package Manager, without effecting existing mods and themes.

3) if i was to create a custom theme, should it before 2.1+ ?

2.1 uninstalls any 2.0 themes you have running so you may need to develop separately for both 2.0 and 2.1. It'll be down to you if you actually want to do that or pick one or the other.

I've not tested installing a 2.0 theme on 2.1, because usually themes between major versions are incompatible, I'm going to assume that still holds true.
