Predictive topic suggestions - Is there a mod?

On a lot of websites you see "You might also be interested in reading....." and there are topics suggested below the topic you'r reading based on comparable text content.

I found one by Bugo "Similar Topics" but it seems to choose random topics not necessarily similar.

I saw that one but chose not to use due to the version being out of date. I know it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work but the other one is up to date.

With that being said, do you have any idea what criteria is being used by these mods to identify similar topics? I ask because I have a topic which the context of the words is almost exactly the same except for one word. But when you read either one the other similar topic doesn't show up.
