No complaints here. I appreciate having volunteers doing the work.. I have done a lot of volunteering myself, not coding but working in other organizations..helping out as Staff or a Board Director.

From what I see they are doing a excellent job.

MrManager

I have nothing to contribute but I just wanted to say that there are a lot of us out here who know how long software development takes and do appreciate all the work you're putting into 2.1! Of course we'd all like to see the full release as soon as possible but I'd rather get a solid stable version in a few weeks (?) than an unstable and not fully bugfixed version right now.

When will release version 2.1? Approximately.

You just added another two weeks to it.. When it's ready for release..

Can I suggest a site moderator / admin start a thread called "When will 2.1 Final be released?"

Include in the body only - in bold - the content "When it's ready."

and then lock that thread :)

Think the only way that will work is a 1 month ban for asking when the next realease date is.

:P

I hate the delays but appreciate there is a lot of work... for something that is free.

Hey, that's a fine idea! Mind if we borrow it? ;)
Just kidding of course, but yes - asking when, requires an answer, an answer that requires time to write, time that could be spent coding - and so on ;)

Just installed the new 2.1 RC2 just to try it out.

I am impressed with all the hard work and dedication from you talented people, keep up the good work. :)

After a short look it seems very responsive and looks nice and clean, and I think the admin panel it is better organised.

Just wanted to post up to say a huge thanks to the guys.
Upgrade from 2.0.15 was 100% flawless and quick.

2.1 RC2 is a massive upgrade in capability to 2.0.

Great work and thanks heaps

Congrats to everyone! Let's hope that 2.1 Final is just around the corner :)

And I remember just a few years ago everyone thinking SMF 2.1 never would happen... I've decided to spin RC2 and it feels pretty good and a much needed update. Nice work developer team! :3

Works nicely on PHP 7.3 + MariaDB 10.4.

It would be great if SMF pulled its finger out and see that WordPress is an important part of our world and to catch up and make SMF plugin.

Maybe start a Kickstarter campaign or something...

it would rockets downloads overnight?? and become the leading Forum platform - which is FREE

any thoughts on addressing this big elephant in the room?

Would be great if you acknowledged the fact that 2.1 is still not ready for production,
and 2.0 actually has bridges that work as far as I know ( for example https://wordpress.org/plugins/smf2wp/ ).

Now won't you take this discussion to some more suitable topic, ok?

Can you please tell us, new guys, how to install it? I tried and it messed up what was already there and I had to restore.

Finally, as always, this announcement topic is not for support. Discussion and support for SMF 2.1 can be found in the SMF 2.1 support board.

Don't say that, the world is round!
And I already have the feeling I've been here before.

The world is a disc. Don't you dare claim otherwise.
