the only concern is how a theme change will affect the litany of mods/hacks already in use with a default theme such as "the curve", and then there are all the modified icons used with the current theme.

well that's a problem, I don't know what mods you have and how many, but you will most likely have to uninstall them, then install the theme, and then re-install them, and it's not guaranteed to go smoothly, you'll probably face some issues.
