Having Trouble Uninstalling a Package

Hello,

I am running SMF 2.0.15.

I have Tapatalk SMF 2.0 RC5/Final Plugin v.3.4.0 installed.

I am trying to uninstall the package.  When I go to the Package menu and click "uninstall" I get an error message:

"An Error Has Occurred!
Unable to find package file!"

How do I solve this?

Thanks!

You say the package is installed, but is it currently active and functioning like it usually had?

When you go to the browse packages section of your admin panel, to uninstall do you see this to the right of the mod? [ Uninstall ]

Have you deleted the mod or any part of it from your server?

I'm not sure if it's working any more.  I don't think it is.  It used to be a mod that would link to the Tapatalk App.  But I don't seem to get the pop up I used to get years ago.

Yes, the [Uninstall] option is there.  But when I click it I get the error message I noted.

No, I haven't deleted any part of the mod.

Check the Packages directory to double check though. You personally may not have deleted it, but your host might have for some reason.

The /Packages folder doesn't seem to have anything related to Taptalk in it.  It has some SMF patch zip files, the backup subfolder, index.php and installed.list.

This is a bit of a tough one because usually I would suggest to just go to the mod's download page on SMF and then parse the mod looking to see if any of the mod's files are still on your server or if any of the code that mod adds is in any of your templates and source files. It looks like the mod has been removed from the SMF site so that would be difficult to do.

What I can suggest though is to click the [ List Files ] link to the right of that mod and see if any of those files are on your server. If you also still have the mod downloaded on your computer, you could google SMF package parser and then upload the mod through that.

Here is one example- https://sleepycode.com/packageparser/

Just upload the mod through the parser and it will show a list of all the files that had code from the mod added/edited, etc. If you then go to the template or source file, you can search that file to see if any of the mod's code is still there and remove it. This can be time consuming, but is a good solution if you have the time to check.

When you go to a template, you can do a  ctrl + F search and copy and paste any of the Tapatalk mod code in that search to see if it is there. That helps make things go a lot quicker.

Another option would be to do a complete back up of your forum (files and database)

Then you can delete the mod from your package manager and then upload it again, install it, and then uninstall it. This would be an option if you think the mod may have been removed from the server. Once your mod is now installed, you can then uninstall like you had originally planned.

If you do go with this option, please remember to do a complete back up first that you can restore if you run into issues like say the mod still was on your server.

Tapatalk was removed from the mod site some time ago because it's caused problems for SMF forums and is not recommended, primarily for security reasons.  If it's broken and you're unable to uninstall it, best thing to do would be a clean install.
When in Emor, do as the Snamors.

Can I save my database with a clean install, or does my message board restart with no data?
