SMF 2.0.11 Maximum MySQL I can upgrade to?

Hello,

My server cannot update CPanel as my current SMF MySQL version is too low (5.5 which is at end of life) so I need to know the maximum MySQL I can upgrade to so that my forum will still work correctly.  I realise it is an older version but cannot upgrade SMF version at this time due to theme/mod issues so I am told.  My other websites on the server can run on 5.6 or 5.7, so only smf is stopping me from updating the server.

I've searched first but can only find very old posts about mysql versions and nothing specifically for SMf 2.0.11

well, first and foremost, in addition to upgrading your mySQL, you desperately need to upgrade your SMF - you are 4 versions behind including some critical security fixes and updates to allow modern php versions

I believe you should be safe up to 5.7
