Hi guys

I am very new here and I just started my first forum and made the choice to go for 2.1 RC2. I think I made the wrong decision as there are a lot of mods and packages that do not work with 2.1. Whatever I come across I am unable to implement because of the version. I am not a developer so I rely on community code to make this work.

The most pressing issues for me are things like adding more pages to the website and adding more top level nagivation. Along side this, I need to get something up for UK cookie consent legislation. There are some GDPR settings I need to apply as well. It all seems quite complex. As I am just starting out, I am not sure if this was the right decision.

Is there anyway to downgrade the system to an older version so I can take advantage of all the existing mods?

Illori

it is not possible to downgrade to any other version. once you install or upgrade to a higher major version there is no way to get back to a lower version.

If you're just starting out, you could just delete your site and start over...
Holder of controversial views, all of which my own.

I agree with Arantor, if you just started, it's easier just to delete and start over....

2.1 is still in release candidate (rc) it is not a finalized version yet so not all mods or templates have been updated to work with them as of yet, a few have but most will wait until 2.1 is finalized, so you could keep 2.1 and just use what you have at the moment or wipe it all clean and start new with 2.0.15 and then later on maybe update when 2.1 is finalized (I am really dreading that update  :P with all my mods)

Appreciate the responses guys. I think it might be worth just starting from scratch. I will have to re-create all the posts again and possibly beg people to come and register again.

Its just not a great start but ill bite the bullet on this one

Hey there could be a workaround here. I haven't checked in detail, but there's a chance most of the database structure for the relevant tables (posts, members, etc) could be imported into a 2.0.x database. There are some things that are new (likes, etc) but a lot of stuff that isn't (member_ID, etc).

So, if the number of posts and registrations is a concern, it may be possible to salvage them. Dropping fields out of an existing db isn't a big deal.
