I am getting email:

There has been a problem with the database!

This is a notice email to let you know that SMF could not connect to the database, contact your host if this continues.

How can I fix it? I have my own vps and there is no high load.

Does it happen intermittently or constant? Error logs?

Got this error when I installed SMF in september for few days. After that I did not get error that is why I ignored. But today I got two emails with DB error. I also try to find error log in public_html but did not find any error log.

Might be spikes from spiders or hackers. When it happens try looking at server's processes. Unless you have other sites on your VPS that pulls resources.

In most cases, it's either spiders/bots or server problems. If they're generated once or twice a month, I usually ignore them... it probably means that the server had a "hiccup" at that point in time for one reason or another, nothing more ;).
