smf posts with links to images broken - changes http to https

My forum is acting up, and I've spend a few hours bashing my head.  In short, smf posts with links to external site images get broken - SMF is automatically changing http to https. Is there a setting somewhere that is whacky?

My site is https. The member posts a link to his image on another site: http://jimluton.com/pc23/plank/buttblock2.png and once you post it, the image url is redirected to https://jimluton.com/pc23/plank/buttblock2.png

Help!

You say external links to images, but does this also apply to links in general?

For example, if you post this link? http://www.simplemachines.org/

It does not change links.

I am running SMF 2.0.15

I have the following mods:
Optimus Brave   1.8.7
Ohara YouTube Embed   1.2.9
Pretty URLS 1.1.3

I think Pretty URLs is messed up. It's installed, but the package manager says it isn't.

I think Pretty URLs is messed up.

Good luck with that. :P  Try uninstalling it with package manager, then manually remove pretty urls code from .htaccess in forum root.
When in Emor, do as the Snamors.

There is nothing in smf core more in pretty urls which will force a change to urls as you describe.

The last time this happened, it ended up being a host configuration issue

We had a recent report (can't find it right now) where this was due to a host setting.  Could you check with your host that there is no auto-https setting?

And it was indeed a setting that got toggled in cpanel for http/https for external links. I am relieved. Thanks all for your help!

That was where I was heading https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=569636.msg4032497#msg4032497

Glad it's sorted though.  ;)
