Why? It is a necessary part of SMF and removing it usually breaks things.

I saw many other forums after domain/ it is giving content url without /index.php/ folder;

They use the pretty URLs mod and for every forum that uses it, half of them break. Google doesn't care about URLs - if it did, why doesn't YouTube use pretty URLs? Or Google Docs? Answer: Google doesn't care.

Pretty URLs does nothing in my opinion. Nothing to gain.

Yes , I have bad experience with Pretty URLs mod, never use it.
Coming to why youtube does not use SEO url, Because; if youtube uses seo url, if someone creates an url about a topic / tittle, another user can not create it again. That's way youtube does not use SEO url.

And that's yet another reason not to use it on a forum.
