Current SPAM prevention?

I have a couple of SMF 2.0.14/15 forums that just kind of go along , nothing super substantial. 
My spam protection consist of 10 pretty difficult questions, 3 of which must be answered, along with :
1.    httpBL    2.5.1    

5.    Stop Spammer    2.3.9    

12.    Misc Anti Spam    1.0    

But recently i am running into issues updating from .14 to .15 because of Stop Spammer.
I uninstalled Stop Spammer on one site and it updated to .15 no issue.
Now i run into errors reinstalling Stop Spammer there ( i am working with someone in that MOD thread to get it figuired out.)

But  that brings me to this..are there better or more current/supported mods for preventing Spammers/registering?
