Which steps are you taking when trying to upgrade, which guide are you following?

I uploaded the new forum, and went to upgrade.php.

I haven't used this forum software in years so I've probably forgotten and done something wrong.

I was upgrading due to 1000s of php errors.

SpacePhoenix

What version are you upgrading from?
What PHP version are you using?
What mods are installed?

It's a friend's forum, I'm trying to help him out. H

e had a portal installed at one point but disabled it. I'll ask if he remembers what else was added.

Illori

what version are you upgrading from? what errors were you getting?

ScarletDiva

I think it was 2.0.15.

php errors (in the logs) due to the the host's new version of php not working with the older forum.

Illori

what version of php are you using?

we really don't recommend using SMF 2.1 in production unless you are willing to debug issues that may come up.

ScarletDiva

Host is using PHP 7.2.

What SMF would you suggest?

Would I be better off doing a clean install? The forumwill be set to read only, as it is now being treated as an archive since everyone left for Facebook.

Illori

I would stay with SMF 2.0 and upgrade to SMF 2.0.16 when it is released as it will have support for php 7.2.

ScarletDiva

How long do you think that will be?

I'll need to revert the forum... Hmm.

Illori

it will be released when it is ready.

we always recommend making a backup before you do anything, I hope you did.

Have you now upgraded to 2.0.16 and then 2.0.17 now?  That will support PHP 7.2 and should work for you with no issues.

Click on the little document icons to the left of those failures, this will tell you what it's trying to find/replace.
