Hello

I am running SMF 2.0.5 from a while but I was wondering if I could:

1) make it responsive so that mobile users have an improved experience

2) update to 2.1 or whatever is the newest version now

In both cases, what should I backup and how do I do that before I get started? (FTP or File Manager?)

Thank you

Illori

you should always do backups.

you can install themes that will make your forum responsive.

we dont recommend using 2.1 in production due to bugs that may be found.

You should be on 2.0.17 for better security and some features.

I have a weekly automated backup done by the hosting service I use, I was just wondering if I need to do a manual backup of the db or anything else before I try this.

You mention a theme but before opening this thread I searched a bit the forum and found an older thread where someone advised to use this:

Is not that good enough?

Thanks

Thanks, I'll try that.

A weekly backup will not save what you did recently specially if it was 6 days ago. You should backup everything just before you upgrade.

I believe that mod helps some issues but definitely does not solve many issues with the way SMF looks on mobiles.

OK, is there any good free theme for mobiles?

Thank you

Looking

I tend to create my own so they are fully functional.

If you are looking for free you can search here: Themes

If you just want the basic 2.0.x look, you can try this and see how you like it:
