News Fader into News Ticker

I would appreciate suggestions for converting (or replacing) the News Fader into a "Marquee Style" News Ticker?

Been a few years since I have done any serious coding, but have updated my forum to 2.0.17.
I have customized the Classic YaBB Theme, smf ver 2.0.2 (custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=1994) Classic.zip [nofollow].

I will expose my ignorance: How difficult would it be to change the behavior of the text from "fading" to moving from right to left? I am prepared to be re-educated.

With my previous website/forum I copied the "Marquee" to the website as well. It seems that the "Marquee" code has been depreciated, perhaps for security reasons. Maybe it is just not popular with today's websites? New website/forum are https compliant. (https://infinitecomputerworks.com/forum [nofollow])

Did this for a forum some years ago, easiest way is to just add a javascript scroller/ticker to the template.  There are lots of them out there, just do a search.
