Question about Profile

I am in the process of creating my own theme....something to more personalize my forum before I actually open it up.  I was wondering is there anyway a person could edit the profile that is shown in the posting area (I usually call it the mini profile)?  By setting borders and backgrounds to it?  If there is please let me know.  I don't want to try doing it without asking first...as I don't want to screw something up.

Forgot to mention that I'm using SMF 1-1-rc1.

You can just change the html and add style in whatever manner you wish.
