More buttons in post toolbar

Hello all,

I was looking to add some more buttons to my toolbar on the new post. Like a button to post youtube videos and images (In the forum there will be people that wont know how to use [img]

Anyone has anything in mind?

As for adding YouTube, it's not just a case of adding the button - because the button has to *do* something... so here's the question, what are you expecting users to do? On the one hand you could have a button that makes people put in just the code in the URL (which is super unfriendly) or you could just use something like the Simple Auto/Video Embed mod so people just have to post the link and it automatically embeds without even having to press any buttons...

I checked the video embed and well it kinda works but i would more like a custom button to press and give the bbcode. the thing with the img button is that it gives the bbcode and the image has to be hosted somewhere. i need more like an upload and post image mod. so someone can use local disk stored image and upload it in the post

You still need a mod to handle the video embed, button or no button (because SMF 2.0 has no video embed on its own so the button on its own does nothing.) Search the mod site for 'YouTube', pretty sure at least one of them has a button.

As for images, that's a really awkward one. At a minimum you'd need one of the inline attachments mods to make it work the way you want and IIRC neither of them add an editor button because it's hard to do. I think things get better in SMF 2.1 about this though.

I'm fairly sure open embed has a bbc button, if not you can easily make one

you don't need to use the buttons either though if you just post the video url it'll automatically embed it

this doesn't have buttons but it's really not needed, you just post the video url and it *should* automatically embed it so no buttons needed

you put the embed code from the site into the bbcode button
but fairly sure for this to work you'd need to allow some html into posts....

as far as for images, well they can upload them as an attachment and then place the image inline in the post

The OP specifically wants buttons so users don't have to write bbc because it's too complicated for them - the inline attachments mods don't have buttons IIRC.

true but it does have a "button" to insert the attachment into the post, it's just not part of the bbc

if that's something that they really want well I'll leave that to you
fairly sure that would have to be a paid request as it's not something simple to do
