Ok, I hope I didn't fubar the board...

How should I proceed to make sure I don't hose the board?

Will it connect to the existing database?

Step by step help would be appreciated....

Personally I would get rid of the install files and upload the upgrade files from the large upgrade package and proceed that way. You may have lost attachments though if that folder was overwritten by the one in the install package. (Not sure) Also, I would wait for the support specialists to weigh in on this.

Remove the install files and upload backups of Settings.php and Settings_bak.php.  If you don't have backups, use repair_settings to restore database info and paths.  /attachments shouldn't be overwritten.

and we're back..  whew.... database password had been changed so it took a bit to figure that out...
