I've been trying to find a better content organization system. I'm an admin in a community that makes video game mods. Right now, our users host their files on sites like MediaFire, and then we have manually-updated catalogs that link to those mediafire links. This can be pretty cumbersome, because we have tons of different mods that fall into different categories, meaning they each need their own catalog. Some types of mods are simply too common to keep in a catalog. Some of these catalogs are multiple posts long, which can be annoying to edit.

I'm looking for something where users can still host their files on other sites, but to have some sort of management system where mods can be sorted by type, be given tags, and be searched more easily. Does anyone know if SMF supports anything like this, or if anything like this has been made?

This looks pretty handy! I have some questions about how it works though:
- It seems like users are able to submit content as they choose, correct?
- If so, are users able to edit the content they've submitted? Such as for updating links or information?
- Is it possible to set it up so that admins/higher-ranked users are able to approve the content before it's added?

Yes, permissions are set on a membergroup level.
Users can edit their own content.
And you can set categories to require approval or not for posted items.

Thank you for the help! If I have further questions I'll ask them.
