ok so I decided to give 2.1 rc3 a test run

brand new install, downloaded from here on the site

the user menu on top left doesn't do anything

https://adserver.business/test/smf21/

as there's a down arrow, I'm assuming it's supposed to be a dropdown menu with the profile and other links in it.....

IIRC, that was an early problem caused by jquery not loading.  Think it was alpha, jquery was linked from Google, browsers blocking Google couldn't load it.  Local jquery lib was added, maybe it's gone missing.

eh...hm...well...
I've tried changing : Source for the jQuery Library
to auto, local, google cdn, and custom url of https://adserver.business/test/smf21/Themes/default/scripts

and still it's not working....

Sir Osis of Liver

Don't currently have 2.1 install.  Are you using the latest github build?

heheheh well I'd think that chrome wouldn't block google links ;)
but it does seem to be browser related

shadav

and on that note....I copied the files from the git download and overwrote the existing ones...
uploaded the upgrade.php, upgrade_2.1-mysql.sql, and upgrade-helper.php and ran the upgrade....

now the user menu doesn't work on my phone either

Sir Osis of Liver

You have to upload the git package, then upload the install scripts from /other, then run install.php.

thanks...ok so I just did that....still the user menu isn't working and isn't working on my phone either with the git version  :-\

shadav

hm...so with my chrome browser on my pc and phone the user menu does not work

using stupid ms edge on pc and stupid safari on phone the user menu works

so this seems to be an issue with chrome  ???

Sir Osis of Liver

Works in FF windows and android.  Don't install any google products on my computers (it's all spyware), so can't help with Chrome.

I've been facing the same issue, any help?

Aleksi "Lex" Kilpinen

The RC3 release on our download page does work for me on Chrome, though sometimes I see similar issues with the linktrees in topic view (this is an issue that comes and goes, and haven't been able to pinpoint why) - Have you tried simply emptying your browsers temporary files, and/or doing a hard refresh for the page? Perhaps there is something cached incorrectly.

I had already tried clearing the forums cache and cloudflares cache which did nothing.....

hm ok so that's really strange....

if I clear my browsers data and then of course I have to log back into the forum, the user menu works

however if I reload the page or visit any other page the user menu no longer works

if I clear my browsers data again, which forces me to have to log back in, the user menu works again until i either reload the page or visit any other page

Aleksi "Lex" Kilpinen

That, to me, would still sound like a probable caching issue of some sort - it works when it can't call from the cache, but fails when it should be able to use a cache copy?

open your developer tools, go to the console and refresh the page and post the messages/errors that show up.
