I'm not the best examples but  :P
there is a lot you can do with css
https://adserver.business/test/smf/

even changing font colors ;)
https://adserver.business/test/smf21/

The CSS isn't loading for me but that may just be this new browser I'm trying, so I'll look again on another one.

(Staring at shadav's sig and secretly wondering if any of the squirrels currently robbing my birdfeeders are "foamy"...)   :o

do you use an adblocker? for some reason they don't load the css

 if one of them starts throwing them at your head, then yep it's foamy  :P

That was it, the blocker.  I see what you mean and especially those fonts, wow!

I need to prepare to cope with foamy squirrels, I think.   ::)

with the exception of the background and the header/logo, on the fx-sabers one yes -- for Antechinus' one on my test site, the on/on2/off are images still, but simple to replace with a Fafa icon

it gets even easier in 2.1
https://test2.turtleshellprod.com/ is my working site to remake the fx-sabers theme in 2.1 -- and has had ONLY CSS changes from the curve2 default except for 2 template files with really minor changes.

Oh, that last one is scary good.  CSS is probably the most fascinating part of site coding (to me, anyway) but I'm such a rookie (hack).  You guys make me dizzy.

So, do you know how I learned most of my mySQLand css?

Ask questions...   either on google, or from an expert (like on here. :) )

google: make rounded corners CSS (that one was pretty much instant gratificaton)
google: navigation tabs div css (this one took about 15 tries to get it right, and even then, had to get an expert to give me the last hint)
google: mysql replace text inside string

the key is to learn the proper search terms and then try stuff on a test site. The rest of it mostyly falls together after that.

Proper search terms is a huge problem for me, I admit it.  That's what I need:  a site that teaches "proper search terms".   :D

Don't get worked up over things that is not worth getting worked up over ;). Life's short, enjoy it :). If it pans out, great, if not, take a look at the problem in a day or two ;). If it still doesn't make sense or doesn't work, leave it be, not worth it at the moment ;).

You've inspired me to close my MacBook and go to bed.  And this is a good thing.    :)

These days, they're pretty much the same parts, just macs cost an arm and a leg compared.

Not really even kidding.

I'm old school about some things.  I've had this same mid-2010 MacBook Pro for years.  I just keep tearing it open, popping in a logic board or a display or a hard drive or whatever it needs and I'm off again.  Apple just wouldn't quit tinkering and the newer models are so uptight (everything soldered down) that I refuse to budge.  Plus, I become cheaper with every passing year.  I paid them once, I'm done.   :D

Well, as long as it works for you, why not :P

You have to realize -- I'm from the time before home computers :o -- and remember when the brand wars was a real thing -- PC vs Apple (when Macintosh was just a model of Apple) and then there were the OS clashes (Apple vs vs DOS vs Windows vs OS/2) (and yes, I owned all of them) -- and, being in business then, where the "real" business folks used PCs, but the graphics folks INSISTED that Macs were better (and, they werennt wrong, for their set of needs)

This  (attached) is out in my shed.  Stiff fires up with whopping 8MB (Ram Doubler, ha!!)   :D
Had it since 1990!

Kindred

lol... Ayup!!

I think my old 8088 8Mhz TURBO with *AMBER* monitor, 1200 baud modem, 2 5.25" FDDs and a 10MB HDD (!!) is still in my dad's home office (1988). :D
Ran my Dial-up BBS off that machine for 3 years.

We trashed the Apple IIe that we had in the mid80s and the TI 99/44A which used an audio tape/player as a storage device

I have those "big-ol" bulky iMacs in the shed, as well:  a turquoise one, a green one, a purply-red one...  Looks like a yard sale in there.

Oh, dial-up, I can still hear it...   Hey, I know what I'll do:  capture an mp3 of that sound and make it my ringtone.   :D
