The attachments folder is almost full

Just had an email from my SMF saying that "The attachments folder is almost full". What does this mean and how do I fix it? The folder is on a server with plenty of space left so how can a folder be full?

Admin -> Attachments and Avatars -> Attachment Settings

You can either increase 'Max attachment folder space' or create a second attachments directory (/attachments2) and set it current in 'Configure multiple attachment directories'.

as well, if you aren't already using it, you may want to think about installing the smush it mod to help lower some of those file sizes down
