Create a php file in the root directory of your webserver with the following content and run it (delete it once your done) and tell us whether you get Testing 1 2 3 on the screen or if you get the blank screen.

In which case check the file permissions of all of SMF's files. If any are set to 777 you will need to change it, folders should be 775 or 755, files should be 664 or 644.

The SSI references are not relevant to general SMF functionality.

If that doesn't help, it may also be worth a look at what user owns the files. I've seen weird stuff happen with file ownership on some hosts, where uploaded files get different owners through different channels..

Have thoroughly checked, nothing is marked as 777. All folders are 0755 or 0750, files are 0644 or 0666

Try changing the 666 ones to 644.

Then if that still doesn't work, check who the file owner is for everything.

Made all the files to 644. still not working. However, I was looking around and caught hold of a file called error logs. Pasting the logs as latest as yesterday. Masked the username and passwords in the logs. Maybe this is due to PHP version change I committed yesterday from 5.6 to 7.3. May be below logs got generated due to that:

The first and last lines in that other log snippet are also suspect, as index.php exists in the root folder this error should not be generated.

I'll have to pass over to those more knowledgeable on this one but the last set of logs show that calling mysql_connect is failing. That function was depreciated in php 5.5.0 and your running php 5.6.40. I thought depreciated meant it was still available but apparently in this case it's not.

Edit, didn't get the full post why typing. I see that you updated php to 7.3. mysql_connect doesn't exist in php 7.3 so you will need to go back to the previous php version.

So you need to either drop back to PHP 5.6 then patch up to the current SMF version, or forcibly upgrade SMF to current versions which will remove all your mods.

If they say there are no other types of logs then there probably isn't (btw, your host doesn't sound like they are being very helpful).

Now that you've gone back to php 5.6 it would be good to see the error log like you posted 7 posts ago in this message of yours. So try and visit your site again so if there is an error it has a chance to be logged and then post that error log here.

I can see below logs, not sure if these are related to the issue. I have multiple other sites hosted. In root folder I have the smf one and then in sub-folders I have other sites as well. The other sites are running well but I can see some error logs from the sub-folder too. Can't figure out where these logs are pointing to:

These logs aren't related. The script not found lines are bots trying to find vulnerabilities, the last one is a relatively normal error about a folder that shouldn't have an index.PHP file in it, not having one in it.

But if you're back on PHP 5.6 the mysql_connect error should have gone away and new errors should be in the log... I just visited to see (which should have produced an error)

Also your SSL certificate appears to have expired.

We're not at a dead end yet. Do you remember where you found the "error logs" file you mentioned in this post (I've shortened the quote)?

This is the error log we want to see again now that you have gone back to php 5.6.0.

The blank screen (white screen) solutions are:
Increasing the PHP Memory Limit (in this days I recommend at least 256MB - scripts )
Disabling Mods one by one and check
Replace SMF theme with the default theme
Clear server cache
Check folder / files permissions on server / hosting side
It could be a WAF firewall conflict too!
If you use PHP-FPM (FASTCGI) last version as Apache handler check permissions per hosting user

This is very rare and no logs: If you change the PHP memory limit via cPanel / WHM interface and you replaced the old value with the new value and you forget to add M in the WHM form field you can get white screen 100%. The same will happen if you change PHP memory limit via command line with editor mode (if you forget M).

Don't rush! Do the job step by step!
