Administration security problem

I just installed a fresh 2.0.18 forum and it did not ask for a password to go into Admin. "Disable administration security" is NOT checked.

Not sure about 2.0.18 but were you logged in as an admin? Or can any membergroup do this?

I'm logged in as Admin haven't tried with regular member but I'll make a test member and see.

I've checked and unchecked "Disable administration security" in admin and it does nothing. I have no mods installed I just installed it and went straight to admin and got right through when usually a new install will ask me to type in a password.

Created a test member just now and it does ask for password for regular member when trying to enter admin and says "You are not allowed to access this section" like it should.

But still not for Admin!

Do try if checking the disable -option and saving, then reverting and saving again does anything.
I haven't seen this exact thing happening, but I have seen similar things happen with other options some times.

I believe if you just logged in, you can get access to admin panel without being prompted again, just for 1 hour.

Yes if your logged out and you log in most of the time you don't need to enter the password to get into the admin section. If you don't do anything for awhile but stay logged in it will ask for the password.

Ok well after several hours of inactivity (took me a nap) it did finally pop up and is working. It just odd tho cause I've installed SMF 2.0.18 100's of times and it has always asked for a password to get into admin unless I checked it and turned it off.

it's always had a timeout...      if I just logged in, it never asks for a confirmation until the admin session (different from the forum session) has timed out
