1) Best (but hard?) way: add attachment option to quick reply

Um...

Arantor

It's not the same though. It would be nice to do it without leaving the quick reply form.

There isn't really *that* much justification for having different post forms at this point.
Perhaps it would have been better if I'd simply never bothered. Y'all clearly would be less unhappy that way.

Karmaster

@FrizzleFried, that mod adds "Add files" button which just redirects to full reply form (confusing users), this is better than nothing but not a full solution, because Quick reply form is more user-friendly - you can track the discussion, quote different answers and it is generally more usable than Full reply form.
Full reply form can be safely removed after adding attachments to Quick reply form (but i think it is used for New topics)

Antechinus

You can quote in full reply too. That's what the "Topic summary" does.

But you can't track the discussion, it disappears. And you can't quote multiple posts.

Antechinus

Yes, you can quote multiple posts, and you can track the discussion as well on full reply as you can on quick reply. Both pages require a reload to catch up with any new content on the server, and reloading loses any editor content.

Quick reply is only to complicate the user!
It's the memo that: Move on! OR Go ahead!

Wouldn't the answer button suffice?
Have you thought about the button "new topic" and "new topic fast!????

Yes you can. You can scroll down and click insert quote for as many as you like. But I'll grant you that it isn't elegant. But it's no less elegant than doing it in quick reply.

Maybe there's a third option too, 3) Rename "Preview" in quick reply to "Full editor" or similar.

In smf-2.1 ? No, discussion does not show up. I can see it on this forum, but not on my 2.1 forum...

Arantor

Then you've possibly disabled it, it is configurable from the post settings.

This site is (mostly) stock 2.1.

Thanks. But this is a tiny part of the problem, and problem persists.

Why not both? ???
They are not incompatible choices, imho.

Arantor

FFS you are so entitled. I put the option back as a mod to help people out and the best you have is snide condescending arrogance for not making it how you want.

This is why we can't have nice things.

While Arantor is a little more aggressive than I, he does have a point. He created a mod to do what the OP wanted and the question of attachments was also answered. This topic has been marked as solved and as such no further 'discussion' is needed.
Please do not PM me for support.

Karmaster

@Arantor, sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, that was joke in a context of o topic, thanks for the mod.
@Steve, I predict: this is not the end, we need a hero to fix this in a right way.
